FOI (Swedish Defense Research Agency), Weapons and Protection Unit.
FOI is regarded as one of the top four explosives test and research labs in the
world. The facilities include explosives small-scale production, explosives research,
an explosives laboratory with a full range of test equipment, as well as testing
of explosives and detectors. The partnership with FOI provides world-leading expertise
in explosives detection research and development. Portendo will utilize FOI’s laboratory
to conduct field tests on a wide range of explosives. FOI and Portendo have signed
a General Agreement for R&D co-operation and have jointly applied for several R&D
grants and patents.
Royal Swedish Institute of Technology (KTH)
KTH is Sweden’s largest technical institute and as such has world-class labs to
conduct nano-technology research, including a new unique nano-technology prototyping
lab being setup this year. By means of advanced tools such as electron microscopes
and electron beam lithography, matter may be manipulated at an atomary level, thus
creating materials and components with entirely new properties. Portendo and KTH
partner in developing the nano-structured membrane used in the Tracer product.
Chalmers Institute of Technology (CTH)
The nano-plasmonics group at CTH is a SERS technology (Surface Enhanced Raman Spectroscopy)
expert with world renowned research in both theoretical and practical vibrational
spectroscopy (nano-plasmonics). The goal of the partnership is to ameliorate Portendo’s
SERS technology.
